Pepsi Celebrates “Happy Gawai Kaamatan” Through PEPSI FM Across Sabah and Sarawak

Hi Everyone,

This Harvest season, Pepsi Malaysia brings Kaamatan and Gawai to life through PEPSI FM, a first ever unified broadcast experience across four Borneo radio stations connecting listeners in Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia. Presented by Etika, ERA Sabah & ERA Sarawak, Cats FM and Kupi-Kupi FM, listeners across Sabah and Sarawak tuned into PEPSI FM for a shared festive broadcast under the theme “Dari Frekuensi ke Hati, Happy Gawai Kaamatan” (From Frequency to your Hearts).

For one day, participating Sabah and Sarawak radio stations came together as PEPSI FM — a shared festive broadcast where DJs, stories, music and conversations flowed across regions as one collective celebration. Through multilingual segments, cultural storytelling and local perspectives, the broadcast highlighted the richness and diversity of East Malaysian identities while connecting listeners through a shared Harvest spirit.

The experience brought together beloved local hits, East Malaysian favourites and traditional-inspired Kaamatan and Gawai songs, alongside heartfelt dedications, cultural conversations and community shoutouts that captured the spirit of the Harvest season in one continuous celebration.

The marathon broadcast celebrated the cultural richness of Sabah and Sarawak through specially curated segments that explored the symbolism behind traditional harvest attire. Listeners were given insight into the identity and heritage embedded within Kaamatan and Gawai traditions, alongside key cultural touchpoints such as Unduk Ngadau and Kumang Gawai.

A series of live interviews added depth to the broadcast, featuring cultural artist Alena Murang, who shared her work in preserving Bornean heritage through music in endangered Kenyah and Kelabit languages, as well as her efforts to bring indigenous culture to international stages. Pepsi anthem stars Mary Grace , Rezza Shah, Ramless Walter and Dabra Sia also joined the programme, offering behind-the-scenes perspectives on the making of Pepsi’s festive anthem and its accompanying music video.

Across participating stations, the broadcast came alive through listener contributions and shared storytelling, as audiences reflected on hometown memories and personal harvest celebrations. Interwoven with language segments spotlighting Sabahan and Sarawakian dialects, the programming created a unified on-air experience that connected communities across East Malaysia through culture, music and shared heritage.

“At Pepsi, we are proud to celebrate the richness of East Malaysia’s cultural heritage,” said Amy Gan, Vice President of Marketing at Etika Sdn Bhd. “The Pepsi Harvest celebrations have become more than just a festive campaign — they are a platform to celebrate identity, connection and the stories that make Sabah and Sarawak so unique.”

She added, "This year, we introduced PEPSI FM, an initiative that brings together radio stations across Sabah and Sarawak to share music, conversations and cultural stories simultaneously, allowing more Malaysians to experience the spirit of Kaamatan and Gawai in a contemporary and accessible way. We are also continuing our annual limited-edition Harvest Festival cans, available exclusively in Malaysia during the festive season. What makes them especially meaningful is that the designs are created by East Malaysians, for East Malaysians, because we believe the people closest to the culture understand it best,” she said.

Adding to this collaboration, Priya Dharshini, Director of Astro Audio said:

“This marks the first time ERA Sabah & ERA Sarawak collaborated with Cats FM and Kupi-Kupi FM in celebrating the Gawai Dayak and Kaamatan Festival celebrations, and it is truly a proud opportunity for us. Prior to this, we had also collaborated with other radio stations, which paved the way for even more bigger partnerships in the future. Beyond bringing together four radio stations on one special platform, this initiative also creates an opportunity to strengthen the bond between the announcers and listeners, especially the communities in Borneo.“

“We would also like to express our highest appreciation to Pepsi as the main sponsor for making this special collaboration possible. Pepsi’s support has played a major role in the success of PEPSI FM, especially as a brand that is so closely connected to the people and often chosen to be celebrated together with family and guests during festive seasons such as Gawai Dayak and the Kaamatan Festival. We hope PEPSI FM will continue as a platform that unites communities and celebrates Bornean culture in the future,” she added

Complementing the airwaves, Pepsi launched a 3-episode short-form mini-drama series titled "Dua Budaya, Satu Nadi" (Two Cultures, One Pulse). Premiering on TV Sabah’s official digital platforms from 14 May 2026 onwards, the series follows the journey of Sunduan from Sabah and Dayu from Sarawak, whose paths cross during Kaamatan, sparking a journey shaped by culture, tradition and shared experiences across distance and time.

The story explores how two different cultural identities can come together through connection, understanding and shared celebration, reflecting the wider spirit of the Harvest season. The series brings Harvest traditions into a modern storytelling format while staying rooted in the values and heritage of Kaamatan and Gawai.

To further commemorate the season, Pepsi has unveiled its limited-edition Harvest Festival can, co-created with local artists Mohamad Faizullah Ermi bin Herman and Shirly Wong, alongside cultural storytellers Charles Mawan and Daphne Siaw. Inspired by traditional Dayak and Murut motifs, the design transforms a familiar can into a cultural keepsake that reflects unity, heritage and the spirit of “home” across Borneo.

“We wanted to create something that represents our home and shows how our cultures can come together as one,” shared Shirly Wong. Reimagined with a contemporary touch, the can transforms a familiar beverage into a cultural keepsake—reflecting the spirit of “home” and celebrating East Malaysia’s traditions on a wider stage. These limited edition 2026 Pepsi Harvest cans are now available in local supermarkets & convenient stores in Sabah & Sarawak. As well as nationwide via Etika online stores.

This year’s celebration also extends into the brand’s PR kits, which were specially handcrafted in collaboration with local communities from Sabah and Sarawak. In Sabah, Pepsi partnered with Propok View Handicraft, while in Sarawak, artisans from the Betong longhouse community contributed traditional handcrafted elements inspired by local cultural heritage.

“We are deeply thankful to Pepsi for entrusting artisans from Betong with this year’s PR kits. Opportunities like this empower local communities, celebrate Sarawak’s cultural traditions, and give our handcraft makers a platform to share their skills with a wider audience. We hope to see more collaborations that champion local heritage and craftsmanship.” Datin Rosemarie Wong-Jabu, President, Sarawak Heritage Society.

Carrying the celebration from airwaves and screens into physical spaces, Pepsi continues its celebration of East Malaysia’s cultural heritage through a series of on-ground Harvest activations across the country. Throughout the season, the brand will be present at key community celebrations with interactive booths and limited-edition merchandise, including Limited Edition Pepsi Harvest Canvas Bags, Harvest non-woven bags, Pepsi Hand Fans and the Pepsi Zero Sugar LTO cans.

Beginning in Sabah for the Jelajah Kaamatan Roadshow, the festivities continue to travel across Papar, Lahad Datu, Sandakan, Pitas and Tambunan, culminating in the state-level finale at KDCA Penampang on 30–31 May. In Peninsular Malaysia, the festivities continue with the Borneo Native Festival at Central Market, Kuala Lumpur, from 22–24 May. Finally, the journey moves to Sarawak with Gawai celebrations in Kampung Ta’ee on 1 June, followed by festivities in Betong and Kuching throughout the month.

In collaboration with The Chicken Rice Shop, Domino's Pizza, Uncle Bob, and Jollibee, customers will be eligible to obtain free limited Edition Pepsi merch with any purchase of a participating set meal accompanied by a Pepsi drink. This exclusive promotional offer is available at participating outlets nationwide for a limited time throughout the harvest festive period, serving as a special thank-you to consumers while stocks last.

LEGO MY Play Festival Transforms Suria KLCC and KLCC Park for Malaysia’s Biggest LEGO Celebration Yet

Hi Everyone,

This school holiday season, Kuala Lumpur will transform into a city-sized playground as the LEGO MY Play Festival brings the iconic KLCC precinct to life from 21 May to 7 June 2026.

Bringing together immersive builds, larger-than-life installations, interactive play zones, and Southeast Asia’s first-ever Suria KLCC x LEGO “Play Run 2026”, the festival marks Malaysia’s biggest LEGO celebration to date and invites families of all ages to rediscover the joy of hands-on play.

Designed as a large-scale interactive play experience for both children and adults, the festival reflects The LEGO Group’s belief in the power of play beyond the screen. To complement this, Suria KLCC is anchoring the festival within its annual mental and physical well-being initiative. By combining the high-energy Suria KLCC x LEGO "Run in the Park" event with the return of its signature "Safe Space" at the Park Mall Entrance, the campaign highlights how both active physical play and community mental health support contribute to overall wellness.

With play increasingly shifting toward digital spaces, the LEGO MY Play Festival aims to encourage families to reconnect through shared real-world experiences. Through collaborative building activities, imaginative storytelling, and physical play, the festival creates opportunities for children and adults alike to explore creativity together in meaningful and memorable ways.

“While digital devices are an integral part of modern childhood, this festival showcases how hands-on discovery with LEGO bricks fosters creativity, learning, and meaningful connection,” said Nina Patricia Da Costa, General Manager of Singapore, Malaysia, and APAC Travel Retail of the LEGO Group.

“The LEGO MY Play Festival is a celebration of imagination inspired by Malaysian culture. We hope families will take this opportunity to slow down, connect, and create together as they step into an immersive, real-life LEGO world, where ideas and dreams come to life,” she added. “We are also deeply grateful to Suria KLCC for their partnership and support in bringing this experience to life at one of Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic landmarks, where families and visitors can come together and experience the joy of LEGO and play.”

Francis Tan, Executive Director and CEO of Suria KLCC Sdn Bhd, said, "At Suria KLCC, we have always pushed the boundaries of what a retail space can be by delivering world-class experiential events that truly resonate with our visitors. This partnership with The LEGO Group is a prime example of how we intentionally collaborate with our retailers to play a much larger, more impactful role in the community. By tying LEGO’s philosophy of play into our annual mental and physical health initiative, we are turning a school holiday event into something far more meaningful. LEGO is just the first of many major brands we plan to collaborate with in this format, as we continue to redefine how retail destinations can drive positive social impact."

“HAK: TUNTUT ATAU TUNDUK” Bangkitkan Persoalan Tentang Hak Masyarakat dan Pilihan yang Membentuk Masa Depan Negara

Hi Semua,

Amy menambah, “Bagi kami, perbualan mengenai HAK bukan sekadar tentang hak semata-mata.
